Anime cosplay makeup ideas!

For those who don’t know, makeup is a HUGE part of cosplaying! While it’s not technically mandatory or necessary to wear makeup (read why here), it definitely improves your look when you cosplay, especially on camera. And with Anime cosplays in particular, makeup helps you look the part because let’s face it; Anime characters have very distinctive looks! Whether it’s those big eyes, blushy Waifu faces, or evil lines running across their cheeks, there are many ways you can apply makeup to look fabulous.

So in this post, I’ll give you 10 Anime cosplay makeup ideas you need to try! I will go over characters where makeup can definitely make you stand out.

With that said, these are just Anime cosplay makeup ideas. All you have to do is search on YouTube for specific tutorials on how to do the makeup for these characters.

Without further ado, let’s get started!

1. Shiro from Deadman Wonderland

Why wouldn’t you want to cosplay as a demon girl? 🙂 Cosplayer: chibiusagimx.

Shiro is one of the main characters from an older series; Deadman Wonderland! She is one of the test subjects being experimented on, hence her albino appearance and violent tendencies. But in terms of cosplay, Shiro looks super cool! All you really need is the bodysuit and long white wig.

When it comes to the makeup, the most important thing is having white-colored mascara. That way you have her signature white eyelashes.

2. Sukuna from Jujutsu Kaisen

Sukuna is the main villain of Jujutsu Kaisen, one of the more popular Anime these days (if you want to know the popular cosplays of 2023, click here). He’s a cursed spirit that everyone feared in the past, but now is inside Yuji’s body after he consumes one of his dead fingers. Sukuna’s incredible power still lingers to this day. He looks awesome and if you want to cosplay someone badass-looking, then definitely go for Sukuna.

In terms of his makeup, most definitely it’s all about the marks on his face! Get that eyeliner handy.

3. Dabi from My Hero Academia

You can’t think of Anime makeup without thinking of Dabi from My Hero Academia! Dabi is quite the mysterious character. We do know that he’s one of the League of Villains. In any case, Dabi is one of the more popular characters, probably cause he’s so violent and cool-looking! That half burnt face with the psychotic expression definitely helps.

I personally haven’t cosplayed Dabi myself. But from what my cosplay friends have said, Dabi’s makeup is not too hard to do!

4 Rin Nohara from Naruto

If you’re like me and haven’t watched the entire series, you probably won’t know who Rin is. But she was a pretty important character that sets the story for Naruto! She’s a sweet girl who cares about Obito and Kakashi. Rin is relatively obscure in my opinion, so she’s a good choice for a lesser-known character!

Her makeup is really easy to do. The most important part is getting those rectangular purple marks on the side of your cheeks.

5. REM from RE: Zero

Cosplayer: Totlamadi. Photo taken by itsmrdylantime.

Even though Rem gets most of the attention from this series, it’s actually Emilia that’s the main character of RE: Zero. She is actually more quiet and reserved. And while she might come off as cold, she actually is very selfless and cares about others.

6. Muzan from Demon Slayer

Ruthless and no remorse for others, Muzan is your character if you want to be the bad guy! A nice bonus is that Muzan takes on different forms, and they all look so cool. But his most notable one is with his fedora. He definitely looks like Michael Jackson with the hat!

7. Small Might from My Hero Academia

This is how All Might actually looks like; a skinny old man who is past his prime. Still, Small Might uses his knowledge to train and teach his protege Deku to become a future #1 hero. Out of all the cosplays here, Small Might is probably the easiest!

8. Haru from Beastars

Haru Beastars Cosplay
Cosplayer: _starrysoul_.

Haru is the little hare from the somewhat new series, Beastars. It’s an interesting series where humanoid carnivore and herbivore animals go to school together in a tense and complex setting. While Legoshi is a timid wolf, Haru is quite the aggressive hare. It should be the other way around! Beastars is an interesting series, and Haru is an easy Anime cosplay you can definitely pull off!

9. Ciel Phantomhive from Black Butler

Cosplayer: chibiusagimx.

Ciel Phantomhive is one of our favorite characters from Black Butler! In exchange for his soul, he has protection and service from Sebastian Michaelis. The nice thing about cosplaying Ciel is that he has many different outfits, from his suit to the wedding dress! Great if you like genderbend cosplays.

10. Deku from My Hero Academia

Deku is the poster boy of this series and definitely a great character if you’re looking to cosplay from the series. With his signature green hair, cute freckles and upbeat personality, Deku is an awesome character to cosplay if you’re looking for someone that’s adorable and inspiring.

I literally just used eyeliner pencil for Deku’s freckles. It was super easy!
