Redhead cosplay ideas!
Whether you’re a natural redhead that doesn’t want to wear a wig (read about not wearing a wig here). Or you’re a cosplayer who wants to dress up as a character with red hair. Whatever the case, I got you covered!
In this post, I’ll give you 20 redhead cosplay ideas you should try! These characters span from a variety of different genres, including: Anime, video games, comics and cartoons.
Some of these characters you may be familiar with, while others you may have never heard of before. I’m sure after reading this list, you’ll find a character that resonates with you that you’d want to cosplay as.
Without further ado, let’s get started!
1. Bloom from Winx Club
You may have not heard of Winx Club, or the main character Bloom. The show originated from Italy, so the characters have a more Westernized look to them. However, it’s pretty similar to your typical Magical series. The show is mainly about fairy warriors who use their magical abilities to fight the villainous witches.
Bloom is all about fire! So she transforms into a blue fairy with the ability to use flames from a dragon. Being the main character, she’s definitely the strongest out of all the fairies.
Bloom’s outfit is fairly straightforward; a blue dress outfit with fairy wings and red hair. The wings can be a bit complicated to do, but other than that, she’s a a solid redhead cosplay ideas character!
Starfire is one of the most popular characters in the DC Comics Universe! And who doesn’t love her? She’s such a warm character that everyone can relate to. And of course, she’s a redhead that’s perfect for this list! I decided to choose the Nasa version, cause it’s pretty cool and simple to do!
3. Futaba from Persona 5
Persona 5 is a very popular series, and Futaba is one of the main characters in the game. Futaba looks great as a cosplay! Most of the things you need to cosplay her involve regular clothing. And her big glasses make her look all the more cool! She’s really easy to cosplay.
4. Gaara from Naruto
Who can forget Gaara? He’s quite the interesting character, with a violent and dark past. However, he has good intentions to help out his clan. Of all the Naruto characters, I’d say Gaara is the most notable redhead from the series. With his signature red outfit and scar on his face, along with that huge sandbag he carries, Gaara is a cool choice!
5. Ms. Frizzle from The Magic School Bus
If you grew up in the 90s as a kid, then you definitely know who Ms. Frizzle is! She’s that wonderful teacher who took us and the schoolkids on crazy adventures on The Magic School Bus! Is there anything Ms. Frizzle couldn’t do? She could bench heavy weights and teach us all the things we tried to learn in school. Ms. Frizzle is a great choice for redhead cosplay ideas!
6. Mary Jane Watson
An iconic character in the Spider-Man universe and his love interest, Mary Jane Watson is another redhead cosplay choice if you’re looking for something more casual to do. She doesn’t require any special armour or suit. Mary Jane Watson is just regular clothes and maybe a wig, depending on your hairstyle.
7. Childe/Tartaglia from Genshin Impact
Tartaglia (nickname Childe) is one of the anti-heroes of Genshin Impact that people love! He is one of the Fatui Harbingers, a powerful and elite group in Genshin Impact. Although he’s an extremely violent and strong fighter, he is quite kind-hearted in other areas, such as caring for his little brother. That’s what makes Tartaglia so interesting; is he a good or bad guy? Only time will tell. And he’s the poster boy redhead of the popular video game!
8. Nami from One Piece
Okay, so Nami could be orange or red-haired, depending on your preferences. I’d say she’s more of a ginger color. Either way, I’m putting Nami on this list! Nami is quite well-known, so you’ll have no problem with anyone recognizing your cosplay.
9. Black Widow
Our first Marvel character on this list. Black Widow has been quite popular recently of course due to her movie series, as well as Avengers. She’s a supercool hero worth cosplaying!
10. Yoko from Gurren Lagann
So if you want a dark-red haired character, then Yoko is your girl! Yoko was one of the notable characters back in the day that carries a HUGE sniper rifle. Her outfit is very unique in that it’s a semi bikini and her flashy red hair. Even though Gurren Lagann is considered an older series now, trust me. Most people will know you are if you decide to cosplay Yoko. She’s so recognizable that no one can ever forget her!
11. Hermione Granger from Harry Potter
Hermione is from the well-known Harry Potter franchise, and also made famous by Emma Watson. She makes for a great casual cosplay, as you only need her wardrobe and wand to look like her.
12. Ganondorf from The Legend of Zelda
The King of Evil they call him! Ganondorf is the main antagonist of the Zelda games. Holding the power of the Triforce, he commands immense power and will do anything to conquer Hyrule. While definitely not the easiest cosplay to do, Ganondorf looks great if you can pull him off. Most video gamers know who Ganondorf is. And we don’t always realize that he also has red hair!
13. Alexstrasza from World of Warcraft
Who doesn’t love World of Warcraft? It’s an iconic series from Blizzard. Although some might remember it from its realtime strategy days, today it’s known for as an MMORPG. Alexstrasza is one of the major characters of the series, and she’s got red hair. So if you’re looking for a character to wear cosplay armor with, then Alexstrasza is a great choice.
14. Erza Scarlet from Fairy Tail
One of the main characters of the super-long series, Fairy Tail, Erza is a bold character who expects the highest standard of everyone else. She won’t take anything less, and she’s very bold! If that’s your type of character you want to cosplay, then Erza is your girl!
15. Kim Possible
Oh yes! One of the best Disney TV shows in the modern era for me, Kim Possible is a kick-ass heroine who sort of reminds me of James Bond. While she is a strong crime fighter, she also struggles balancing her high school life at the same time. This makes Kim Possible very relatable and definitely fun to do.
16. Asuka from Neon Genesis Evangelion
Asuka Langley is the red-headed girl from Neon Genesis Evangelion that we all know and love. You can opt for her bodysuit or you can go for her casual schoolgirl outfit. Up to you!
17. Scarlet Witch
An interesting character to say the least, Scarlet Witch is another hot redhead Marvel cosplay that’s fairly easy to pull off. All you need is a dark red leather jacket and top, and black pants/skirt and boots!
18. Merida from Brave
Merida is a popular cosplay choice and for good reason. She is strong, bold and of course brave! Although she is officially one of the Disney princesses, Merida doesn’t fit the stereotype at all; she is short-tempered and fights for herself. When you cosplay Merida, you get to wear an orange curly wig, a cool-looking dark green dress and get to wield a large bow!
Who doesn’t love Pennywise?! If you want to dress up as this evil redheaded clown, then by all means go for it. 🙂
20. Diluc from Genshin Impact
Diluc is quite the nobleman of Mondstadt. While he takes pride in his appearance, on the battlefield he is just as fierce as his cold personality. I consider Diluc a tsundere, so if you’re looking for a “Sasuke” type of Genshin Impact cosplay, then Diluc’s your guy!
