Without further ado, let’s get started!
We can’t talk about cosplay makeup without of course mentioning Mehron. They are known for their superior quality in their makeup products, hence why a lot of cosplayers rely on Mehron. The brand even has a lot of items catered specifically for cosplaying, which tells how dedicated they are to the hobby. Mehron is definitely notable for their body paint products for cosplaying. When it comes to cosplay makeup, you can’t go wrong with Mehron!
2. Urban Decay
If you want to stand out with your cosplay, then you’ll definitely want to use Urban Decay. Known for their variety of products, Urban Decay is one of the best cosplay makeup brands, especially if you want to stand out and be prominently seen. Their setting spray and eye shadow are just some of their products that will make you look marvelous in cosplay!
Oh yes! NYX Cosmetics isn’t just a well-known brand for cosplaying; they are prominent in all sorts of makeup! You can find their products almost everywhere, including palettes and lipstick. They have SO many useful products for cosplay, including their amazing eye liners. Best of all, NYX Cosmetics is not expensive at all, meaning you can splurge on a lot of their products without breaking the bank!
This one I know a lot about! MAC Cosmetics is a huge brand of makeup in general, not just cosplay. Not only can you find their products in many different stores that sell makeup, but Mac also has their own brand name stores as well! Here in Canada, there are many MAC Cosmetics stores across the country. The brand is known for being inclusive and diverse, catering to all races and genders with their variety of products. That means you can find everything you need with MAC Cosmetics for cosplay when it comes to makeup!
5. Ben Nye
Ben Nye is another big brand for cosplay makeup. Their products are used for a variety of settings, including theatrical and special effects. But since we are focusing on cosplay here, Ben Nye also caters towards us at well! They have lots of cosplay-related products, including setting powders, concealers and tattoo covers!
“I use their face primer and make up mist and set. My cosplay makeup in Texas heat would melt off without it.” – zhang.mao.mao.cosplay
Another budget-friendly cosplay makeup brand, e.l.f. (full name is EyesLipsFace) is a product that many cosplayers use. You can find their products at your typical drug store for a very low price! From their setting sprays, mascara to their face primer, e.l.f is a great brand to use if you’re cosplaying. They are well-received not only in the cosplay community, but for other makeup enthusiasts as well.
Maybelline is a well-known brand not just with cosplaying, but with makeup in general. A lot of cosplayers, especially my friends, use Maybelline products such as their foundation and eyeliner, foundation, lipstick and so much more. They’re been around for a very long time. You can’t go wrong with Maybelline!
8. Fenty Beauty
Now here’s a makeup brand name that’s only been around recently, yet popular with cosplayers. Fenty Beauty is founded of course by Rihanna. The best feature of Fenty Beauty is the wide range of tones to choose from. According to one of my cosplay friend Yukiko.cosplays, the products makes your skin look airbrushed! They can be used to cover your eyebrow color when you need to match the color of your eyebrows with your wig, which means the foundation is really good at coverage. The Fenty Beauty’s Pro Filt’r Soft Matte foundation also has great coverage and dries quickly. Fenty Beauty is definitely one of best cosplay makeup brands to choose from.
Kyrolan is the real deal! Having been around since 1945, Kryolan is a well-established makeup brand. They are known for supplying products for professionals such as for TV or film. So you can bet Kryolan products are high-quality! They have everything cosplay-related you could ask for, including eye shadow, body/face paint and foundation.
Last but not least, we have Tarte on this list. They’re another great brand for cosplay makeup. As expected, they have a variety of makeup products you can use for cosplay makeup, including liquid base, blush, and contouring. Their blush especially blends really well!

Now to note, just because you see these 10 cosplay makeup brands, it doesn’t mean there aren’t other brands you can use. In fact, there are lots of excellent makeup brands you should try. But if you haven’t used any, I’d start with the ones mentioned on this list first.
Here are some other brands that some cosplayers I know that they enjoy:
“I never do any cosplay without Lioele colour correcting cream! Use it as a primer or a base to even your skin tone out. This cream is white and it blends to your skin colour as you rub it. Simply add your preferred concealer on top!” – farrocious_cosplay
“I’ve been using 3CE recently for eye shadow, blush and lipstick. It is a Korean brand. Price-wise, I would say it’s fair since the product is actually good quality. It is my go to brand for most of my recent cosplays.”– tutu_the_bunbun
“KVD (Beauty) Lock-It setting powder is fantastic highly recommend!” – wisteria_melody_cosplay
