Barefoot cosplay ideas!
It’s not everyday you think about going barefoot. Some activities you would go barefoot include: swimming, running around on a beach and being at home.
But what about cosplaying? Yes, barefoot cosplaying is a thing! While you definitely don’t want to do that for a whole convention, you can always try in a small area or for a photoshoot. After all, some people love cosplay accuracy and if that’s what you’re looking for, then you can definitely try.
Which characters go around barefoot? That’s what we will be talking about today!
In this post, I’ll give you 15 barefoot cosplay ideas for you to try. These characters are from a variety of series and fandoms, so I’m sure you’ll find one character that you’ll like on this list. Also, it’s important to note that anyone can cosplay these characters.
Without further ado, let’s get started!
1. Nahida from Genshin Impact
Ah yes, Genshin Impact has been so popular over these past years (click here to see all the Genshin cosplay ideas). But when it comes to barefoot cosplay ideas, Nahida is one character that walks around like this! She is the Dendro Archon God in the region of Sumeru. Despite having a childlike appearance, Nahida is wise and intelligent. If you don’t mind cosplaying a chibi-like character, then Nahida is a great choice. A lot of people play Genshin (including myself), so you’ll have no issues with anyone not recognizing you as Nahida.
2. Toph from Avatar
She may be a little girl, but she can definitely kick some ass! Even though Toph is actually blind, she uses her extremely talented and gifted earthbending abilities to locate objects everywhere. Toph is a great sidekick to Aang and also a great choice for Avatar cosplay! I find there are a lot of characters with orange or blue-coloured outfits. So Toph is great in that she wears green, so you’d definitely stand out more in an Avatar group photoshoot.
3. Ryu from Street Fighter
Who doesn’t know Street Fighter? With iconic characters such as Chun Li, Cammy and M. Bison, Street Fighter is a classic fighting game that still engages video gamers to this day. But Ryu is the main character and not only he is the most well-known Street Fighter character, he also walks (and fights) barefoot. So if you want to cosplay a badass character who can kick some butt, then Ryu is definitely a great cosplay choice.
4. Froppy from My Hero Academia
Froppy is another student and classmate of Deku, and she is supposed to resemble a frog! She has big eyes and mouth like a frog, a super-long tongue she can use to grab or sling objects, and she can swim really fast with her abilities. Froppy is another cute and adorable MHA cosplay character worth cosplaying.
5. L from Death Note
L happens to be one of the most popular characters in all of Anime. He’s the leading detective trying to catch the one that is using the Death Note to kill various people in the Anime. L’s demeanor is very weird; he crouches often and eats candy all day. He’s definitely bizarre but very lovable and very smart.
6. Mavis from Fairy Tail
Fairy Tail is an Anime series that had been running for over 300 episodes. It was pretty popular at the time, and there are many characters you can cosplay as. But when it comes to cosplaying someone that walks barefoot, then Mavis is that character from Fairy Tail you’d want to cosplay as. Her outfit is cute and with wings on her head, she can be an adorable cosplay to do!
7. Ariel from The Little Mermaid
Whether you’ve watched The Little Mermaid or not, you probably know who Ariel is. The movie is over 30 years old but she’s still an iconic Disney character.
The cool thing about cosplaying Ariel is there are many variations you can do. You can go for her regular mermaid outfit, which I don’t recommend at conventions because it would hard to walk around! You can opt for a more casual version with regular clothing, as long as you sport her signature red hair. Her casual version usually is a blue skirt, a black corset, white long sleeve t-shirt and of course that red wig. I’ve also seen many Steampunk cosplays of Ariel that look amazing!
8. Rei from Free! Iwatobi Swim Club
The Free! series is the ultimate fan service for those who love hot dudes in swim gear. And that’s basically what Rei’s cosplay is about: a jacket and spandex pants. So Rei (or any character from Free Iwatobi Swim Club) is insanely easy. And no, you don’t need to be jacked or have 6-pack abs to cosplay anyone from Free! And you can go barefoot with this cosplay; after all, he is a swimmer!
9. Fred Flintstone
Yabba dabba doo! Although The Flintstones are from way back then, the iconic family and show are still relevant to this day. Who doesn’t love a prehistoric family and memorable characters like Fred and Wilma? As you can guess, Fred is a notable character who goes about barefoot. So if you’re willing to wear his unique outfit, then you should cosplay as Fred!
10. Morgiana from Magi: The Kingdom of Magic
Morgiana is one of the main characters from Magi: The Kingdom of Magic. She is one of the heroes who may look small but she is incredibly powerful. Morgiana is really easy to cosplay. All you need a white mini dress and red hair. You don’t need any footwear because of course, she is a character that goes barefoot!
11. Ishtar from Fate
Oh my! If you couldn’t tell from her appearance, Ishtar is a wonderful goddess from the Fate series. She has a strong personality and expects the people around her to give the respect she deserves. But deep down, Ishtar cares for the people around her.
Ishtar has a very revealing outfit, so cosplaying her is best suited for an event that is in a warm environment. Perfect for the summer (click here to see a list of summer cosplay ideas)!
12. Wii Fit Trainer
You might have forgotten about Wii Fit, but that game was really popular at the time! It was a fun game for the Wii that also had the unique feature of giving you a different way to exercise. But when the Wii Fit Trainers were included as playable characters in Super Smash Bros., that made them popular characters to cosplay as! Not only are they barefoot, but really easy to cosplay. All you need is a t-shirt and pants.
13. Edward from Cowboy Bebop
For a legendary series like Cowboy Bebop with spaceships and armed combat, you wouldn’t think that there would be characters that go around barefoot. But there actually is one character, and that character is Edward!
She is a very energetic girl who has the skills of being a hacker while also being intelligent. Edward has bright red hair and relatively easy to cosplay because she basically wears casual clothing. If you want to cosplay a classic character, then Edward is a great choice!
14. Esmeralda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame
I don’t have much to say about Esmeralda, other than she’s one of those obscure cosplays because The Hunchback of Notre Dame was a lesser known Disney film in the 90s. Her outfit is very unique, so she’s definitely worth considering for a cosplay!
Inuyasha is the main character of the series named after him! Although Inuyasha is now a relatively older series, he’s still worth cosplaying. His long silver hair is majestic and his outfit seems quite comfortable to wear!
