These days, cosplay is so popular for a bunch of reasons. Not only is it fun to dress up, but it’s also a way to show appreciation for our favorite characters. I would say one of the most popular fandoms to cosplay from is definitely from Anime. Who doesn’t love idols and Shonen heroes!
But which male Anime character should you cosplay? That’s what we will be talking about today!
In this post, I’ll give you 25 male Anime cosplay ideas you should try! These characters are from a variety of Anime series, so I’m sure one of these characters will appeal to you. Also, it doesn’t matter what gender you are; anyone can do these male cosplays.

1. Aki from Chainsaw Man
Ah yes, Aki is a character from Chainsaw Man! Not only is he a cool character from the series but really easy to cosplay as. I myself have cosplayed Aki and his outfit is basically a suit. If you want something easy and comfy to wear, Aki is your guy.
2. Sebastian from Black Butler
Simply one hell of a butler! He is a demon who isn’t afraid to use his powers to protect Ciel. And his black suit and colors fits really well with a lot of themes. I myself have cosplayed Sebastian during a Halloween-themed cosplay event, and his cosplay was great! Who wouldn’t want to dress up as a demon butler? 😉
3. Loid Forger from Spy X Family
Spy X Family is one of the more popular series to cosplay (click here to see all the popular cosplays at the moment). Loid Forger is one of the main characters. Sent on a mission to be with Yor and Anya as a family, Loid is quite the interesting character. If you cosplay as him, you’ll definitely be recognized at a cosplay convention!
4. Ichigo from Bleach
I hope you haven’t forgotten about Ichigo, the main character of Bleach, one of the most popular series of all time. Back in the 2000s, Bleach was all the rage. With his orange hair and interesting personality, Ichigo was a fan favorite and still is today. I haven’t cosplayed him yet but his outfit looks pretty comfortable. If you decide to cosplay as Ichigo, bring a Rukia or a Orihime with you!
5. Kakashi from Naruto
One of the most popular characters in Naruto, Kakashi is the sensei and leader of the original Team 7. With his cunning abilities, studying his book on the job and his Sharigan eyes, Kakashi has been a great choice for cosplayers for so many years!
6. Rei from Free! Iwatobi Swim Club
The Free! series is the ultimate fan service for those who love hot dudes in swim gear. And that’s basically what Rei’s cosplay is about: a jacket and spandex pants. So Ray (or any character from Free Iwatobi Swim Club) is insanely easy. And no, you don’t need to be jacked or have 6-pack abs to cosplay anyone from Free!
7. Luffy from One Piece
When it comes to Shonen, Luffy is the poster boy for long-running Shonen. With over 1000 manga AND over 1000 Anime episodes, One Piece has been around for a VERY long time!
There are quite a few One Piece characters that are easy to cosplay, but we’ll stick to Luffy, the main character. All you need is a red vest, blue shorts and a sombrero hat. And if you don’t want to cosplay Luffy, you could also do Nami as well. She’s just as easy to cosplay!
8. Android 17 from Dragon Ball Z
Originally named Lapis, Android 17 along with Android 18 were kidnapped by the evil Dr. Gero and they were programmed to kill Goku. But things do change during the Cell Saga. Android 17 has a brash personality and loves nature so much that he ends up becoming a park ranger. He is quite the loner but that doesn’t make him less fun or popular to cosplay. Have someone cosplay Android 18 with you to make an awesome duo cosplay!
9. Roy Mustang from Fullmetal Alchemist
Roy Mustang is the true Colonel for sure! He’s one of the characters from Fullmetal Alchemist, one of the greatest series of all time. Roy is part of the State Military, and does what he can to fight off the evil forces. His fire combat skills are second to none, and he sure loves dogs! I certainly enjoyed cosplaying Roy Mustang myself, and I can definitely recommend cosplaying as him.
10. Naruto
I had to put the poster boy Naruto himself! The main character of this lovely franchise, Naruto is your typical hot-headed protagonist who is incredibly ambitious and never gives up. With his trademark orange jumpsuit and love for ramen, you should definitely consider the option to cosplay Naruto!
11. Gojo from Jujitsu Kaisen
Gojo reminds me of Kakashi. Because they’re both really cool and they are both mentors to the main characters of the series (Naruto and Yuji respectively). I haven’t cosplayed Gojo yet but his outfit looks awesome. I highly recommend cosplaying as him!
12. All Might from My Hero Academia
The hero we need in My Hero Academia but don’t deserve. All Might was the #1 Hero by saving the world from evil and keeping the world positive with his smile. However, behind the scenes All Might has been severely injured and cannot sustain his power and status for much longer. He may be past his prime but he is still incredibly strong. A true role model for Deku and many others.
13. Alucard from Hellsing
I don’t know why, but Alucard reminds me of Mick Jagger. They’re both so badass! Alucard is one guy you don’t want to mess with. His outfit is so cool as well. So, Alucard is one character you’ll want to consider.
14. Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z
Vegeta may always feel inferior to Goku. But make no mistake, people still love Vegeta! He is that anti-hero we absolutely adore. He is incredibly strong, a great husband to Bulma and a great father to his kids, Bra and Trunks. If you decide to cosplay as Vegeta, you definitely have to wear his Saiyan outfit!
15. Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop
Cowboy Bebop is considered to be one of the best Anime series of all time, and that might have to do with the main character, Spike Spiegel. He’s a badass bounty hunter who looks stylish and awesome. Who doesn’t love a man who wears a suit and sports some sexy curly hair?
16. Deku from My Hero Academia
Deku is the main character of My Hero Academia and definitely a great character if you’re looking to cosplay a male Anime character. With his signature green hair, cute freckles and upbeat personality, Deku is an awesome character to cosplay if you’re looking for someone that’s adorable and inspiring.
17. Kyoya from Ouran Host Club
Ouran Host Club is an older series from the 2000s. But it remains popular, especially with Otaku who grew up watching it. What’s great about this series is that almost every character is easy to cosplay, including Kyoya who happens to wear glasses.
Most of the outfit is just regular clothing. The only unique part is the blue blazer with the club logo, but you can buy that online or through other easy methods.
18. Decim from Death Parade

I feel like not a lot of people know about Death Parade. After all, it’s only about 12 episodes and came out more than 5 years ago. But I truly enjoyed this series. It was short and sweet!
One of the main characters of Death Parade is Decim, the guy who is the host of all those games. I have cosplayed as Decim and found him super easy to cosplay as! You just need a white wig of course, a white dress shirt, black pants, a black vest and a nice red bowtie!
19. Naofumi from Shield Hero
Shield Hero has been a popular Anime in recent years, so you should definitely consider cosplaying as Naofumi, the main character of the show. The best of cosplaying Naofumi is wearing his famous shield of course. As someone that’s cosplayed as him, he’s great for cold weather. Not only that, you get to wear nice boots with his costume. Highly recommend. Naofumi is also great with Raphtalia as a couples cosplay.
20. Kiryu from Vampire Knight
One of the main characters of the series, Zero Kiryu is a half-human half-vampire. He has allegiance to humans and hatred of vampires due to his family being killed by vampires. He’s a great protagonist to cosplay!
21. Tuxedo Mask from Sailor Moon
Fighting evil by moonlight, winning love by daylight! Tuxedo Mask is an iconic character from the Sailor Moon series. He is elegant and his style is just so smooth. If you decide to cosplay as Tuxedo Mask, consider bringing someone who is also cosplaying as Usagi; you two would make a great cosplay couple!

For a protagonist, Tanjiro has a great personality; warm and caring for others, yet strong and fierce when it comes to fighting the enemies. Tanjiro is a great cosplay option for everyone, with his signature robe. His wig, outfit and sword look awesome.

Soma is the main character of Food Wars! It’s a great series about cooking and pretty light-hearted. Cosplaying as Soma is really easy; all you need is his blue t-shirt, black pants, his spiky hair and of course the apron needed for his cooking skills!
