Halloween cosplay ideas!
If you’re like me, then you always get excited when Halloween rolls around. While I always say that cosplay is an all-year round hobby, Halloween too is a special time of the year. Not only do more people dress up in costume but Halloween also brings out some really great ideas. Because Halloween is supposed to be spooky and/or mysterious, October 31st is a great opportunity to dress up as some notable characters from various fandoms!
In this post, I’ll give you 10 Halloween cosplay ideas you need to try! These characters range from a variety of series, so I’m sure you’ll find a character you’ll want to cosplay as.
Without further ado, let’s get started!
DISCLAIMER: I have some affiliate links in this article if you’re looking to wear any of these cosplays. Either I myself have bought from those stores, or I truly feel they are great deals for a beginner cosplayer. I’ll only post links if I feel the price and quality are of good quality. If you’re buying from these sites, you’re also supporting me and my hobby so I appreciate it!
1. Daenerys from Game of Thrones
Game of Thrones may be done as a series, but Daenerys lives forever in our memories. The show is still popular to this day, and if you decide to dress up as her for Halloween, you will have lots of people knowing who you are. After all, Daenerys is the most well-known character from Game of Thrones. She’s a great character worth cosplaying, especially during Halloween!
2. Sebastian from Black Butler
Simply one hell of a butler! Although Sebastian isn’t technically a Halloween cosplay, I feel he fits well during October 31st. He is a demon who isn’t afraid to use his powers to protect Ciel. And his black suit and colors fits really well with the Halloween theme. I myself have cosplayed Sebastian during a Halloween-themed cosplay event, and his cosplay was great! Who wouldn’t want to dress up as a demon butler for Halloween? 🙂
3. Wednesday Addams from The Addams Family
Wednesday Addams was always a lovely character worth cosplaying. But ever since the Netflix show featuring Wednesday came out last year, her popularity has skyrocketed to new heights! She fits the criteria perfectly for a Halloween cosplay idea. And she’s really easy to cosplay. Wednesday Addams is a must for Halloween!
You don’t have to be a specific character for Halloween; you can just be an original demon! Whether it’s a zombie, monster or any type of scary-looking creature, the world is your oyster when it comes to cosplaying during Halloween! I think this Demon’s Eye crown would look great on anyone that decides to cosplay as a demon. It would complement your outfit really well.
5. Hu Tao from Genshin Impact
If there’s one character from Genshin Impact that’s associated with spookiness, then it’s definitely Hu Tao! She’s the director of the Wengsheng Funeral Parlor in Liyue. Although her appearance may seem cute, her design is meant to be dark and her sense of humor is very morbid! If you’re looking for a Genshin character to cosplay for Halloween, then Hu Tao should be your first option!
6. Pumpkin Spice!
Halloween is still technically taking place during Autumn season, and what better way to represent the season by having a pumpkin-themed cosplay? I’ve seen many variations of pumpkin costumes during Halloween, from pumpkin onesies to full-on pumpkin bodysuits! But if you want to keep things simple, you can easily just wear a crown that’s decorated with pumpkins. It looks beautiful and spooky at the same time!
7. Makima from Chainsaw Man
By now, we all know how popular Makima is in the cosplay world. Not only has Chainsaw Man taken over in 2023, the series is a great choice for Halloween. Because of the series and the gory nature (chainsaws and all), Chainsaw Man is a good choice for cosplaying for Halloween. I picked Makima because of how popular she is and how easy it is to cosplay as her!
Are you afraid of ghosts? Who isn’t! Ghosts are always part of the Halloween spirit and you can customize your cosplay to whichever type of ghost you want to be. Whether it’s wearing a complete ghost outfit, or by just simply doing your makeup to look very pale and ghostly, you can dress up in many different ways as a ghost.
9. Harley Quinn
Of course I had to include Harley Quinn on this list! What kind of Halloween party would it be without our favorite crazy DC character? She may be too popular these days, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t a great cosplay choice. In fact, you don’t have to cosplay her infamous outfit from Suicide Squad. Harley Quinn has multiple different outfits, from the classic Jester costume to the more recent outfit from the Birds of Prey film.
10. Whatever is available at the Halloween store
I don’t know about you, but whenever Halloween rolls around, a bunch of Halloween costume stores pop up in my home area. They are meant to sell Halloween products, including costumes. They have all sorts of generic costumes, including cops, nurses and pirates! Not only will they have a variety of costumes available, the price will be much cheaper.
Now here’s the thing though; those Halloween costumes aren’t meant to last a long time. In fact, that’s why they are sold in Halloween stores; to only be worn during Halloween or once a year. They are not meant to be worn on many different occasions like cosplays are. If you want to know the difference between cosplays and costumes, click here to read my article about it.
To summarize, here are the 10 Halloween cosplay ideas you should try:
- Daenerys from Game of Thrones
- Sebastian from Black Butler
- Wednesday Addams from The Addams Family
